Some Things I've Built
Featured Project
Unicorn Pipe Dream
A high-speed unicorn action game developed collaboratively in two days for Global Game Jam - Green Bay.
I primarily programmed the core player mechanics, including dynamic speed buildup, smooth deceleration when idle, and automatic jumping at terrain peaks. I also implemented key visual effects such as colorful speed particles, a vibrant player trail, and a widening field of view as the player gallops faster.

- C#

Featured Project
Monster Health
A month-long game project created through [P1] Games, Monster Health is a cross between a visual novel and temple run, but in the dark. It was designed to raise awareness of mental health challenges and share coping strategies.
As team lead, I recruited and managed a 10+ member cross-disciplinary team, facilitated daily standups, and aligned progress with organizational goals.
In the final development sprint, I shifted focus to programming, implementing critical gameplay features to ensure the game reached a complete and presentable state.

Featured Project
Overlode
What began as a challenge to learn Unity ended as a complete demo inspired by the flash game Motherload.
I rebuilt the game from scratch, implementing features like procedural terrain, a robust upgrade system, jetpack physics, varied damage logic for hazards such as falls and explosions. I also designed a responsive UI and streamlined inventory system to improve usability.
Over three months, this project taught me how to bring a concept from initial design to a tested, finished product complete with a showcase trailer.

Other Noteworthy Projects
view the archiveCover Letter Wizard
A cover letter creation and modification tool that uses ChatGPT 4 to guide the user through a series of questions for creating stunning cover letters. This project is a modified version of the one developed for Fifth Wave Solutions LLC.
Testing Patience
Created in two days for Global Game Jam - Green Bay based on the theme 'make me laugh', this game demo was pitched as "The Stanley Parable meets Goat Simulator with a gun", which essentially means it's a fun physics game with comical audio narration.
Chonky Chickens
A 3D chicken dueling game, where the more food you eat, the more knockback you give to push your opponent off the edge. Created in three days for the Game On Green Bay Game Jam based on the theme 'momentum'.
About Me
I’m Josh, a software engineer passionate about creating tools that make an impact. After completing my CS degree and an internship in business applications, I joined a home improvement tech startup (1 & Fund®), which later merged with One Click Contractor. Today, I develop solutions for a financing platform that powers top companies in the home improvement industry.
Outside of work, I love creating with others—designing intricate Minecraft structures, building games for annual jams, and promoting Midwest game development through conferences and gatherings. Other hobbies of mine include producing music, biking, and relaxing in nature.
Beyond tech, I stay committed to meaningful impact through volunteer outreach: teaching English and digital literacy to adults, serving at a local food pantry, and helping at my church by running sound and co-leading a Bible study. At the core of it all is my faith and desire to live generously, love others well, and create a life that is beautiful, restful, and meaningful.
Here are the technologies I’ve recently used to bring ideas to life:
- .NET Core
- Angular TypeScript
- C#
- Financing APIs
- Unity
- Django Python
